No to Lepa Brena in Croatia, in any arena,” said Slavica Hruskar, president of the Independent Volunteers organization. She said that Brena’s concert was not acceptable in any Zagreb arena, as long as Croatian nationalist singer Marko “Tompson” Perkovic was banned from performing in Pula. “Anyone who has evidence can show it to the public. If there is none, I will file charges,” was the Serbian pop star’s response to the accusations. The veterans are angered because Brena was photographed in Brcko in 1993, wearing a Republic of Srpska Army uniform. The singer, who was an icon in the former Yugoslavia during the 1980s, said that she had been forced to don the uniform in order to save her father’s life.
