Croat veterans protest concert of Serbian singer

I bet you anything you like that most of these veterans used to listen to Brena and that most of their Croatian children listen to Serbian turbofolk and will be at her concert.

I find it amusing when somebody tries to compare two completely different things. Thomspon has sung romantic songs longing for the days of nazi Croatian concentration camps, has done fascist salutes in the past. His supporters turn up in their thousands wearing black, some of them have ustasa regalia.

Measure that against the charge that Brena once wore a Bosnian Serb uniform. What a crime! Brena's fans, do they make nazi salutes? Do they make myths about certain ethnic groups? Does she sing songs about murdering people? Are her concerts obviously an exclusively Serbian affair - as Thompsons is a deliberate Croatian only affair?

These veterans need to move on and stop trying to associate everybody in Serbia with evil.

Yet Thompson concerts, where the fans do the sieg heil salute and wear Nazi uniforms, are ok with the Croats. Yeah, well actually they will fit right into the German run EU then.

Croatia allows an Ustashe concert, but won't allow someone who claims to be nothing but Yugoslav to perform.

bob I think its always important to emphasise that there is a minority of Croatians that have always reject the nationalism and anti Serbianism of the Croatian elite.

They are based in Istrija, historically they also remember all too well that the ustasa were ready to hand them over to fascist Mussolini as a gift. And it was Jugoslavija that spared them this fate following the end of the war.

Anyway who knows Istrijans will know that they are a decent bunch and treat Serbs with respect.

i don't get it. isn't pula inside croatia? thompson's own country, or atleast countrymen in pula do not want to hear his work, so how does this relate at all to brena and her engagement in zagreb?

Knowing the penchant among certain Croats to turn musical events into Riefenstahl videos, I wonder what these clowns would do at a Laibach concert: cheer? jeer? look confused?

The only way to settle this is to have a battle of the bands. Live at Dinamo stadium. Thompson vs.Brena

Lepa Brena is one of few people who could of hold Yugoslavia together , to bad she was not a politician . Why people care that she changed her religion - anybody can do that , it's human right. But nobody will forgive her for trying to change her nationality , not even the Serbs
