Republic of Srpska (RS) Prime Minister Milorad Dodik and ten other suspects have been accused of committing fraud to the tune of some EUR 72.5mn. Bosnian media, quoting a source from the State Investigation Agency (SIPA), say an inquiry was conducted into a number of construction projects in the RS, after which it was concluded that the govt. and certain institutions in the entity were guilty of various forms of malpractice during their implementation, including organized crime, money laundering and abuse of office. Dodik to face fraud charges Dodik dismissed the accusations, stating that they were nothing more than mud-slinging ahead of the arrival of the new international high representative and an attempt to oust him from office. SIPA Director Mirko Lujic said that he had not heard about the charges until yesterday. The indictment was signed by one of his deputies, Investigative Department Head Dragan Lukac, and handed over to the Bosnian Prosecutor's Office by another official from that department. Dodik said that Federation officials were behind this latest attempt to undermine the RS. The dispute over this issue began several months ago after the anti-corruption NGO Transparency International published information regarding numerous irregularities in the aforementioned projects. NGO Director Emir Djikic said that these charges were the first step towards restoring trust in the Bosnian courts. These accusations sparked an angry war of words between Dodik and international community officials in Bosnia-Hercegovina, specifically OHR deputy Raffi Gregorian, with the RS prime minister accusing Gregorian of leading a conspiracy against the RS and him personally.
