Macedonia’s government crisis has caused a record fall on the country’s stock market. The MBI index, which represents the ten most liquid companies in Macedonia, lost 4.64 percent of its value Friday, the biggest one-day decline since the bourse was established. Record losses on Macedonian exchange On Thursday the market lost 2.71 per cent of its value. "Foreigner investors are the first to react to government changes and political instability,” market analyst Marjan Ivanovski told Dnevnik newspaper. He added that a downward trend in global and regional stock markets has not helped the situation. Late Thursday, the Democratic Party of Albanians, the key Albanian partner in the ruling center-right government lead by VMRO-DPMNE, confirmed its departure from the coalition government. Saturday, Prime Minister Nikola Grueski announced he had secured oppostion's support for a minorty government, set to function until the NATO summit in early April.

On Thursday the market lost 2.71 per cent of its value."Foreigner investors are the first to react to government changes and political instability,” market analyst Marjan Ivanovski told Dnevnik newspaper.
He added that a downward trend in global and regional stock markets has not helped the situation.
