Foreign ministers praise Serbia-Congo relations
Serbia and the Democratic Republic of Congo enjoy friendly relations, the countries' foreign ministers and deputy prime ministers agreed on Friday in Belgrade.

Foreign ministers praise Serbia-Congo relations
Congo has always voted in line with Serbia's interests, Dacic remarked, and added that Serbia will also "always do the same.""Congo is a much bigger country, but we are ready to help as much as possible. Serbia has not jointed EU's sanctions imposed on Congo," the Serbian minister said, and expressed his satisfaction over the visit of "our great friends, from one of the biggest African countries."
Economic cooperation with Congo could be better and there are great possibilities to work together, he said.
Dacic recalled that many reputable companies from Serbia operate in Congo, noting that our country has awarded 14 scholarships to students from the African nation.
"Congo is an example on the double standards of the international community and of colonialism. Yugoslavia supported its struggle for freedom," Dacic remarked.
He recalled that President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic decorated his Congolese counterpart and that the decoration will be presented during his upcoming visit to the Serbian capital. The visit will come with the goal of further developing the brotherly relations, Dacic said, according to Beta.
Okitundu thanked Dacic for the invitation to visit Serbia, noting that the country has historic ties to Congo, and that his trip comes within the framework of a strategic partnership.
Okitundu said that Congo is interested in reaching an agreement on forming a mixed commission for cooperation between the two countries in various fields, which could be signed during the president's visit to Serbia.
He said that possible areas of cooperation are energy, health, defense, economy, education, technology and science.
On the international scene, Serbia and Congo must harmonize their views and should insist on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country, the Congolese minister said.
