Assembly adopts laws on police, information security
The Serbian National Assembly on Tuesday adopted the Law on Police, which provides for reorganization and career progression in the sector.

Assembly adopts laws on police, information security
The law puts the emphasis on career development, making career training, education and technological improvements and evaluation of employees basic parameters in decision-making concerning staff choices, Tanjug said.The newly introduced means of coercion, including the use of electroshock weapons, "serve to help police officers achieve desired results without using firearms or inflicting heavy injuries."
The law also provides for the creation of one special anti-terrorist unit and considerably extending internal control authorizations.
Also on Tuesday, the Serbian Assembly passed the law on information security, envisaging a national center for prevention of security risks in ICT systems and a government body for information security coordination.
The national center "will collect and exchange information on security risks in ICT systems, and inform, warn and advise the individuals handling the systems and the public."
The law also stipulates the obligations and responsibilities of ICT system operators when entrusting certain activities to third persons, and the obligation of informing the relevant bodies about incidents related to information security breaches.
A special chapter deals with cryptosecurity and the protection from compromising electromagnetic emanations.
The Serbian parliament closed on Tuesday the first extraordinary session in 2016 by passing five laws, including the one on police, public law and order, public gathering.
In the session, which started on January 18, MPs also voted in favor of the laws on advertizing and information security, but against authentic interpretations of the law on electronic media and the law on copyright and related rights.
