Former president rejects criticism over energy deal

Tadić, who was one of the signatories of the energy agreement between Serbia and Russia, rejected the claims made by Deputy PM Zorana Mihajlović that "Serbia negotiated its position in the agreement poorly."

"We preserved our refineries unlike other countries in the region," remarked Tadić, and added that Serbia enjoys multiple benefits from the deal, considering Russian investments, which amount to EUR 500 million when it comes to the Pancevo Refinery alone.

He also rejected the criticism related to the price at which the country's oil monopoly NIS was sold to Gazprom Neft, saying that "the value of all companies worldwide was lower at the time (2008) because of the economic crisis."
