Đerđ Matković has been appointed as the new Serbian ambassador to the United States, the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia announced on Monday.

Matković is a career diplomat who has served in the United States, Canada and Zimbabwe, and also as Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić 's foreign policy adviser over the past year.Peviously there was media speculation that former Defense Minister Nebojša Rodić would be sent to Washington as ambassador.
Serbia has not had its top diplomatic envoy to the United States since October 2003 when Ambassador Vladimir Petrović was recalled.
