Vučić expects to be "targeted by tycoons"

Aleksandar Vučić has said that if elections are held next year in Serbia, he expects "tycoons to fiercely attack the SNS and himself."

PODGORICA Aleksandar Vucic has said that if elections are held next year in Serbia, he expects "tycoons to fiercely attack the SNS and himself." "I would not like elections to he held, but I cannot exclude the possibility. If there are elections, the fiercest possible attacks will happen against the SNS and me personally, because of the changes that we launched in Serbia," said the SNS leader and deputy prime minister. Vucic expects to be "targeted by tycoons" Vucic spoke for Montenegro's state broadcaster RTCG when he said that the SNS would, in the possible early elections, be the target not only of the opposition but of many tycoons against whom criminal proceedings are currently being conducted. "Do you think that (Miroslav) Miskovic and other tycoons who are in the process of trial or completion of investigation, will quietly and idly wait for the end of the trial, or do something. I think they not sit idly, but will undertake all they can, that is, inject millions and millions of euros into the election campaign against the SNS and me, that is, against the changes that we are implementing," Vucic said. He said that he took "bold steps" when it comes to the policy towards Kosovo and Metohija, the improvement of economic situation in Serbia and the fight against crime and corruption, "always putting the state rather than party or personal interests first." Vucic also noted that he was doing all this in a less than favorable atmosphere "because Serbs are masters of criticism." He then said that the next year will be one of difficult and painful reforms, but that their implementation was necessary for the whole state to achieve progress. Asked whether the 15-anniversary of the murder of Slavko Curuvije would come with an indictment raised against those responsible for this crime, Vucic said he was confident that this will be the case. "We have new information and developments in the investigation. Unfortunately, from what we now have the state was involved, but no crime must be left unsolved and unpunished.
