FM signs economic cooperation deals in Vietnam

HANOI Serbia's FM Ivan Mrkic and Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang signed on Friday in Hanoi two interstate agreements on economic cooperation. They also agreed on concrete steps for their implementation. FM signs economic cooperation deals in Vietnam Mrkic told Tanjug that the agreements open the door to Serbia's presence in the Asian country. "The things that were up to us we tried to bring to completion. We signed and agreed on everything that could bring some benefit to our country in the future," added the foreign minister. According to Mrkic, Vietnam's amazing progress creates room for many projects. He also said he delivered a letter from Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic to the Vietnamese president and that many political issues were touched on in the meetings. "We told them about our position on Kosovo and thanked Vietnam for supporting our position, very consistently and firmly at that," said Mrkic. On Thursday, the Serbian foreign minister met with Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who confirmed that Vietnam was standing by its position of not recognizing Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence. Vietnam is the last stop on Mrkic's tour of South East Asia, during which he also visited Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.
