Hungarian PM Viktor Orban has agreed to personally take part in the upcoming election campaign in Serbia, on behalf of an ethnic Hungarian party. Orban will campaign at the invitation of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) leader Istvan Pastor, it has been announced. Orban is expected to "visit Vojvodina in late April and take part in SMV campaign gatherings", a Novi Sad-based Hungarian language newspaper is writing. This agreement was reached when Orban and Pastor met in Budapest, the daily stated. "The interlocutors concluded that the stake of the commenced building of the nation and the community was for the Vojvodina Hungarian community, through the SMV, to continue to be an essential political force on all levels in Serbia," the meeting reportedly heard. According to the report, Pastor told Orban that "the Hungarian community and the SVM stand behind the Hungarian prime minister and government during the inappropriate, unilateral international political campaign that is being led against Hungary, contrary to the value system of Europeanism".
