Serbian, Romanian IMs open new border crossing The two ministers pointed out that the Kusjak border crossing would facilitate communication, movement and cooperation between the citizens on both sides of the Danube River. Dacic and Igas also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the crossing was finally opened after many years of the citizens' requests to enable an easier crossing of the state border. The Romanian interior minister stressed that the opening of the new border crossing showed that the two countries’ relations had become even better. He believes that it is necessary to look into possibilities, in accordance with the national and the EU legislation, in order to open border crossings between Serbia and Romania wherever it is necessary. According to Igas, this is necessary because the citizens living near the border complain about the small number of crossings and that they therefore have to travel great distances to the nearest crossing in order to cross the border. Dacic said that the opening of the new border crossing represented a significant contribution to further development of good neighborly and brotherly relations between the two countries and their people. He pointed out that the crossing would be open 24 hours a day and that all types of vehicles could use it. The Serbian interior minister added that the only thing left to do was to deploy services for the integrated border control on both sides of the border so they could perform the necessary controls. The two ministers also discussed cooperation between the Serbian and Romanian police. They announced a possibility of forming joint patrols that would control the state border, including the Danube River.
