Serbian President Boris Tadic said during his visit to Baden-Wurttemberg that Serbia could not develop without Germany, which is Serbia's reliable partner. The president is today visiting Paris where he will attend the UNESCO General Conference. Serbia needs Germany, president says Baden-Wurttemberg European and International Affairs Minister Peter Friedrich said that he would advocate Serbia’s further EU integration in Brussels. “Despite oscillations in the two countries’ relations Serbia cannot create its development without Germany,” the Serbian president stressed, adding that Serbia could be a reliable partner to Baden-Wurttemberg and Germany in the region. “I am convinced that Baden-Wurttemberg’s economy, political structure, cultural circles, scientific circles can find colleagues and partners in Serbia,” he pointed out. According to Tadic, even though about 360 companies do business in Serbia there are still numerous business opportunities that have not been used. Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic also presented data that showed that the two countries’ cooperation was far below realistic potentials. “Trade worth EUR 250mn is growing quickly but it is ten times lower than the one Baden-Wurttemberg has with Slovenia, which has three and a half times less inhabitants than we do,” he explained. “Despite oscillations in the two countries’ relations Serbia cannot create its development without Germany,” the Serbian president stressed, adding that Serbia could be a reliable partner to Baden-Wurttemberg and Germany in the region.
