The Independent Association Of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) has welcomed a court ruling that put a hooligan behind bars for 16 months. Milos Radisavljevic aka Kimi was found guilty for endangering the safety of B92 TV reporter Brankica Stankovic. Journalist association welcomes hooligan verdict At the same time the Belgrade Court of Appeals overturned a previous decision to have charges against six other fans involved in the incident dropped. They engaged in offensive and threatening chants against Stankovic during a game in Belgrade last fall, that included references to murdered journalist and publisher Slavko Curuvija. Stankovic became a target of hooligan threats after her investigative program, broadcast on B92 TV, explored links between sports hooligans and organized crime. NUNS President Vukasin Obradovic said it was important for all those charged to be convicted and said the state would in that way show that it acknowledges journalism and truly fights violence and threats against the lives of journalists. The sentence given to Radisavljevic on Wednesday was close to the legal minimum, since a guilty verdict on the charges he faced carries sentences of one to eight years in prison.

At the same time the Belgrade Court of Appeals overturned a previous decision to have charges against six other fans involved in the incident dropped.

They engaged in offensive and threatening chants against Stanković during a game in Belgrade last fall, that included references to murdered journalist and publisher Slavko Ćuruvija.

Stanković became a target of hooligan threats after her investigative program, broadcast on B92 TV, explored links between sports hooligans and organized crime.

NUNS President Vukašin Obradović said it was important for all those charged to be convicted and said the state would in that way show that it acknowledges journalism and truly fights violence and threats against the lives of journalists.

The sentence given to Radisavljević on Wednesday was close to the legal minimum, since a guilty verdict on the charges he faced carries sentences of one to eight years in prison.
