Justice Minister Snezana Malovic said that the reforms of the legislature are being criticized by those who have close ties to organized crime. “From the moment that the decision was made that the legislature must be reformed, and that the fight against organized crime and corruption must be intensified, all of use who are participating in the process knew that we would face many hardships, even threats,” she told daily Politika. "Criticism coming from criminals" Malovic said that “criticisms of the reforms of the legislature are mostly coming from people who are closely tied to organized crime, especially the drug trade, whose empires are being threatened.” “Our basic goal is to minimize damage which criminals have caused to the citizens of Serbia. The people who have been hurt by addiction and the sale of drugs, destroying the lives of children and their families, are the people who need help,” she said. Malovic added that there will be about EUR 100mn ganed in the initial processes for seizing property obtained through illegal actions, and said that the war crimes prosecution has informed her that it is getting ready to enter new processes that the new laws are enabling as well.
