The Democrats (DS), the Sandzak Democratic Party (SDP) and the Socialists (SPS) reached an agreement in general to team up in the future government as well. But, Belgrade daily Blic writes today, this deal does not include Mladjan Dinkic's G17 Plus. "Democrats preparing to ditch G17" The agreement reportedly reached by Boris Tadic, Ivica Dacic and Rasim Ljajic would see an SPS-SDP coalition that would face the next parliamentary, or early parliamentary elections together. The newspaper writes that the ruling coalition "predicts early polls for September of next year, when Serbia is expected to emerge from the economic crisis". Meanwhile, the same article suggests, "G17 Plus will have to prove its worth in the next elections before the coalition doors open for it". Although nobody is mentioning early elections, Blic writes, "all parties are working to prepare for a hot political fall". Latest surveys, which show the ruling Democrats slipping in the polls while the opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) is taking over, "rang alarm bells at the DS", which is now "set to dedicate to party reforms and an electoral assembly in February 2010, but also to redefining its policy that should have a more social flavor". The newspaper says that the deal reached with Ljajic and Dacic leads "precisely to occupying the left-of-center" political space. A file photo of Dacic and Tadic (FoNet)
