The World Bank says that the results of the vote on Kosovo’s membership application will be announced in mid-June. A statement adds that the World Bank’s board of directors submitted a draft resolution on Kosovo membership to the board of governors (made up of foreign ministers of member-states) on April 21. World Bank Kosovo result in June Board members have until June 3 to cast their vote, after which the results will be made public. “The process of approving the ballot results will be finalized in mid-June, and after that they will be announced immediately,” the World Bank stated. Pristina officials believe that Kosovo has received enough votes to become a fully-fledged member of the organization. Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said on Wednesday that he was convinced that Kosovo would become a World Bank member-state, just as it had become a member of the International Monetary Fund last month. Economic experts believe Kosovo will draw great benefits from World Bank membership, especially in terms of preparing specific projects that Pristina plans to use to compete for various loans. Media point out that Kosovo began the process of seeking membership of international financial organizations as soon as it proclaimed independence last year. Kosovo joined the IMF with the help of countries that supported its independence, and plans to use the same tactic to become a member of the World Bank. IMF membership was a condition for Kosovo’s membership of the World Bank, while another is adoption of the law on Kosovo’s membership of the two financial institutions by the provincial assembly.
