The first batch of the second contingent of Russian aid for the Kosovo Serbs crossed the administrative line this morning near Merdar. Russia has delivered over 40 tons of foodstuffs and medicine to the most at risk Serbs in Kosovo. New batch of Russian aid arrives in Kosovo The first consignment has arrived, intended for the Serb enclaves in the province. “We arrived this morning. One lorry is on its way to Gracanica, the other to Strpce,” said Dragan Todorovic from the Serbian Red Cross. The Red Cross expects further food deliveries to arrive over the coming days. Outgoing Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the delivery at the request of Serbian officials. He stressed that the delivery carried no political overtones. Kosovo Albanian leaders feel that this kind of aid should be coordinated through Pristina, not Belgrade. Last month, the first contingent of assistance arrived in four separate batches.
