Police to introduce new training system
Dragić Josifović, head of the administration for professional education and training at the Interior Ministry (MUP), told a news conference that the Sremska Kamenica center would be equipped with modern educational and police equipment and training grounds.Biljana Puškar, the principal of the Internal Affairs High School at Sremska Kamenica, said she expected a number of girls to apply to study at the school and that the accommodation would be duly adjusted.
The aim of this project is to create a modern and responsible police service oriented toward the community, that is, the citizens, which will respect human rights, minority rights and gender equality, in accordance with the best international regulations, the OSCE said.
Representatives of the OSCE, the Interior Ministry and British embassy met last week with national minority representatives in order to encourage them to apply at the new Center for Basic Police Training.
The OSCE also announced that Hans Ola Urstad, head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia, would visit the municipalities of Bujanovac and Preševo Wednesday, to encourage women and minority members to apply at the Sremska Kamenica training center.
Ambassador Urstad will use his visit to Bujanovac and Preševo to present the new police training method, adjusted to the study of the latest police techniques and protocols, while he is also to meet with local officials.
Urstad will also visit the municipality of Medveđa Thursday.
