Slovenia praises China's global role

The relations between Slovenia and China have improved in all areas during Wang's term, said Drnovšek, who thanked Wang for his work and excellent cooperation.

Wang, who was appointed the Chinese ambassador to Slovenia in 2004, said that his tenure in Slovenia was an interesting and pleasant experience for him.

In mid-February, the Slovenian Foreign Ministry hailed the new deal made within the six-party talks in Beijing on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) nuclear program.

The leading Slovenian broadsheet Delo said that the DPRK's nuclear future would primarily depend on China's relations with the United States, while the agreement could also be a model for resolving Iranian nuclear issue.

According to a draft declaration adopted by the Slovenian government in January, Slovenia's front-most foreign policy priority for the period between January 2007 and June 2008 will be developing transatlantic relations and strengthening ties with strategic partners such as China, India, Japan and Russia.
