Kosovo: Power supply depends on Belgrade

“Electricity transmission in the province is currently under UNMIK’s administration. UNMIK and the international community are well aware of that fact,” he said.

“The EMS is the regional leader in this field, as immense amounts of energy supply pass through our network to reach Greece, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia and Hungary,” Vignjević stressed.

He reminded that the EMS and Serbia’s public power enterprise (EPS) are crucial systems in the region, and that Kosovo Electric Company would have to turn to them, as Montenegrin, Albanian and Macedonian systems were deficient in energy.

According to Vignjević, Kosovo's electric power system will be discussed with UNMIK representatives in Brussels on July 10.
