For all of you having any doubts that Kosovo is not going towards independence wake up and smell the roses!!! I would like to remind you that if kosovo was to remain a part of Serbia would not bye services of another country. So much for the statement of the above minister who probably would not be able to watch my chickens.

JERSEYSHORE, I feel sorry for you as you seem to either be a serb or a pure victim of the serb propaganda. For the first link about the world war two in Albania-Kosova. It is not true at all that albanians were with germans and italians. If we were with germans then the albanian nation would not be in the museum in Jerusalem as one of the righteous nations who helped jews during world war two. You have to understand that Albania is THE ONLY PLACE IN EUROPE where there were more jews after World war two than before because they were all saved from the albanians. Jews from all over Europe went to ALbania to survive. Today in USA it is the jewish community-politicians who help us the albanians because we helped them during world war two. I am sorry that you are a victim of the serb propaganda but hopefully little by little you will see the reality.
I do read world news, world history, but I would suggest that to you also, read the book " Kosovo- A short History" by Noel Malcolm and you will see how things developed in Kosova and area.
In one side you accuse USA/EU/UN but then you advise me to read "world news", my dear friend, its EU/US/UN who make the world so how come at the same time you are accusing them and then suggesting me to read news from this very same world that u are accusing?
Since you are talking for the world, just to remind you that the majority of the world supports Kosova's independence. If you see today only Russia and Serbia are cornered in one little side against the independence of Kosova, while all others are for an independent Kosova.
I hope that little by little you see the reality...
Thanks.

There is a great reserve of coal in Obilic, of the best kind. The unemployment in Kosovo is very high (50% ), so there are lots of people who would do that job, If there is a shortage of labor, they can hire people from Serbia, I understand lots of people there are unemployed.
So Kosovo may end up importing workers from Serbia proper.
That is what I call good neighboue relations.
And not only coal industry, there are some other industries that new and Independent Kosovo will need workers from Macedonia, Bosnia, Montenegro ( after all they are not as lazy as portrayed ).

I think that everybody can agree on following:
Better without electricity time after time than under continuous threat of the represion, bombs and masacres.
In a drawings of a kids who survived masacres they don't draw a dark, they draw police, army and paramilitars harming them and their families.
Dark is much healthy for kids comparing with war and post war traumas...
By the way, Kosovo kids are very happy that Serbia is not 'taking care' for them any more...

But one thing you Serbs should have in mind. Despite difficulties Kosovars are living much much ... better now than before 1999. Kosovars are living free now. Nothing can bring the time back. Things are moving ahead. You can speak all the day about your sovereignty in papers, in your constitution but Kosovo is going in its own way. Can you imagine living without freedom when one Serb ruled (in the worst way) nine Albanians? Albanians had suffered a lot and no Russia no Serbia or no hell can change the situation. Come and see Kosova how is it changing.

Kosovo is loaded with coal, it has no need for Serbian eletricity or any Serban form of democracy. This is simple propaganda to make it seem like Kosovo depends on Serbia.Everbody that has severed their link with Serbia has prospered.Serbia buys electricity from Bulgaria anyway.

CANADIEN, thats right, due to the kids and the families we the albanians do not want to live under Serbia anymore because the serbs did crimes that even kids and infant babes were killed. There is cases when the serb paramilitary criminals took infant babes from the arms of the mothers and killed them... So how do you expect us to live under serbia anymore since you seem to care for kids.
BOB, the reason why Kosova is not yet that developed is exactly due to the reason that you fight for, and that is Leaving Kosova without clear status but waiting and waiting due to people who think only for dark ages and you are one of them. The reason why we want independence is because we do not want to live in dark ages but to advance like every other country. You have to understand that Serbia can not control 2 million albanians anymore. You have to understand that there is no way that we will be able to live together anymore. Serb politicians still call us terrorists even that its proved by international law that it was the serbs who did most of the crimes... All the serb leaders of the wartime are in the International prison.
You and some other posters here talk so much about " respecting the international law" but you are forgetting that that international law put in jail all the serb leaders and today you dont even have the moral to accept the crimes that were done ordered by those serb leaders.
I mean do you really ever stop and think that your words do not fit with your thoughts???????????
When all the top politicians of the western civilized world think that Kosova should be independent, while some communist type leaders of the east think that it shouldnt... who should we listen to????? to those who cant even bring prosperity to their own countries or to those that their countries are the richest in the world? I bet you know the answer as I have no need to mention it.
Please understand that KOSOVA is independent and it will NEVER NEVER NEVER go under Serbia anymore, like it or not, this is the REALITY THAT YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH.

Kosova doers not have infrustructure and has problems supplying people with water and electricity, -Yes I agree that these problems exist butr you have to go back and you will find the cause of all these problems.Kosova was always milked of its natural resources and the money went to build belgarade and other places in serbia. To put in simple words Kosova was robed since the 1913 ocupation. I am not even getting in during miloseviqs era , we all know what happened with saving accounts of individuals and Kosova state savings, among many other lootings that took place.

Sure, Serbia is in a good position to make some money as electricity exporter.

But it seemed to me that the B92 reporter had missed the core of the story: on which occassion did Vignjević say this and what does he want to achieve. I would really be puzzled if he believes that he can influence the fate of Kosovo this way. There are many countries that are dependent on others for some of their electricity. In an open market as the EU that is the norm.

Drini

Yes some of these problems exist and some do not, however if Kosovo was granted independence, the economy would prosper and so would Kosovo's system.

I have seen it from 5 years ago to now and I have to say that it has really improved, roads were built aswel as a justice system that is moving along step by step

Corruption is like it always was but only the people can stop it.

Us Kosovars wont be Serbian civils for long. We dont want Independence because of our Economy, we want it because of how we were treated, I speak from experiance. More importantly, I go visit my home every summer and the garbage system is not all that great, it still needs alot of improvment but please dont overexadurate if you've never been there before.

Kosovo did just come out of a war.. not to mention it wasnt treated like the "Holy place of Serbs" when Milo was running the show.

The PISG of the province is incapable to provide basic human resources to its population due to its corruption and poor planning.

In regards to KEK the reason is because the man who was shoveling coal in Oblic in '99 is probably now some KEK executive as he was a relative to some UCK criminal and the educated Serbian electrical engineer is and IDP in Serbia proper.

Pristina for 8 years has be unable to keep the power on, pave the roads, remove sewage from the streets, educate children, end corruption, protect minorities, rebuild, protect, or preserve churches, collect taxes, etc.

Here is to an independent Kosovo the new welfare state of the world.

Serbia uses the Kosovo/a electrical grid so it can transfer power to the south. Macedonia, Greece etc. If thast grid is cut and reconnected to Obilic grid in its entirety Kosovo/a will not need Serbia's electrical power.
There are shortages in Serbia even more then in Kosovo. What do you call that??
In any case Serbia is loosing a lot of income by not collecting costum taxes on goods, taxes overall.

Seems like this set of comments was packed with destructive, illusory, wishfull-thinking, pro-Serb views.

First, one of the arguments being made here is that because Kosovo is so poor in infrastructure and electric energy maintenance, somehow that automatically implies Kosovo's inconceivable 'reintrgration' into Serbia would make things better. For all those that lived in Kosovo in the 1990s (talking about the majority opinion of Kosovo's citizens = Kosovo Albanians) would know what a huge neglect of infrastructure was sustained by the Serb government in its apartheid-type policies.

Looks to me most people who comment on here about Kosovo have never set a foot their lives. Or else they've lived in the very privileged position of the then 10% Serbian minority, protected by a whole policy and military capability.

Its ridiculous to think the Serbs are being discriminated on electric supply on the basis of their ethnicity. We're used to this Serbian propaganda. Fact is Serbs refuse to pay their bills, and energy suppy ain't no Mother Teresa kind of business. Fine, they don't want to pay bills to an authority they do not recognize, but thats their problem.

You cant have it both ways: receive free energy from an authority you don't recognize. Pay the bills, and no one would dare not supply electricity, within the limits of available production.

This argument of electric discrimination makes no sense particularly because Kosovo is basically run by the UN. Are we implying here the UN is engaged in some sort of electric supply discrimination? People come to your senses...

I find it amazing how Serbs love lying themselves in the face. Ain't not a surprise looking back since 1389, how a defeat was made into a glory...

No such glories available today. Kosovo's independence will be a bitter pill to swallow, but swallow you'll have to.

While Kosovo so dearly wants independence the province is not even capable of supplying it's inhabitants with the basics such as water and electricity. The road infrastructure is poor, the sewere system is as bad and there is no effective way to deal with garbage and people are still using the sides of roads as landfills. Kosovo's current electrical situation is much worse than it was before the 1999 bombing. And it's not getting much better... I mean, this is just a logical consequence of serbia not controlling its land - less electricity from that land. Now albanians see how it is without generous serbian subsidies.

This is very good. Kosovo will buy electricity from Serbia (neighbor) at market prices.
This is what I have been saying all along, that whatever takes place politicaly, people and the economies have to interact like the stated fact.
People will get much closer and will be doing business with each other, as long as there is law and without criminal minds on both sides.
Serbs and Albanians have lived next to each other for centuries and it only took one sick individual to change all that.
You should only ask an average Serbian from Kraljevo or anywhere else what they think.
By the way there is a Thermo-electrical plant in Obilic, I know for sure that is loaded with power and there are billions of tons of coal around there. They need to upgrade that plant and maybe it will be electricity for all.

Kosovo's current electrical situation is much worse than it was before the 1999 bombing. And it's not getting much better... I mean, this is just a logical consequence of serbia not controlling its land - less electricity from that land. Now albanians see how it is without generous serbian subsidies.

Kosovars, you are ALL Serbian citizens, of different ethnic groups, that's all. Embrace your homeland and prosper. You can as an ethnic minority within Serbia. With full rights. If you try and go-it-alone, you may very well live in the dark for ages to come.

While Kosovo so dearly wants independence the province is not even capable of supplying it's inhabitants with the basics such as water and electricity. The road infrastructure is poor, the sewere system is as bad and there is no effective way to deal with garbage and people are still using the sides of roads as landfills. Is this system ready for independence???

And soooooooo what????
(Aurel, Tirana, Sunday, 1 July, 2007, 11:27)

Aurel do you have kids? If so you are a very selfish person. If you don't mind living in the stone ages is one thing, but to subjects kids to do the same is criminal. But then maybe you live in Albania and not Kosovo so you may not care about the suffering of regular folks in Kosovo in which case you should be ashamed of yourself!

Electricity in Kosova is fine nowdays, we have 24 hour supply. And for those thinking lack of electricity sends us back to the stone age... i got one word for you GENERATORS.

We will self-govern, self-supply and self-whatever else. Got that :)

One more thing canadien
I excuse your ignorance because you have no clue that even Albania has great power shortages and great difficulty with water sometimes but we dont complain nearly as much as people who are outside Albania.

Telephone company, railway, mining...
Oh, mines by the way make a lot of money for the country.
What is Serbia going to live on?
Popcorn??
All Serbia has it is: Vojvodina, one rafinery, and crapy Zastava cars, and tabacco industry.
Nothing elsa, zilch, zero, nada, nishta.
In few years from now they will be like Pakistan or Bangladesh.
Mark my words.
All you bloggers that have a keyboard and a computer writte a lot of things, but in fact Serbia really has nothing appealing for the rest of the world. You are so smart that you have your navy fleet in another country.
It goes to say like the old joke: "Hungary has no sea but has a submarine!!!"
Cheers.

Drini

pre 16 godina

Wim

Sure, Serbia is in a good position to make some money as electricity exporter.

But it seemed to me that the B92 reporter had missed the core of the story: on which occassion did Vignjević say this and what does he want to achieve. I would really be puzzled if he believes that he can influence the fate of Kosovo this way. There are many countries that are dependent on others for some of their electricity. In an open market as the EU that is the norm.

RH

Dane

I think that everybody can agree on following:
Better without electricity time after time than under continuous threat of the represion, bombs and masacres.
In a drawings of a kids who survived masacres they don't draw a dark, they draw police, army and paramilitars harming them and their families.
Dark is much healthy for kids comparing with war and post war traumas...
By the way, Kosovo kids are very happy that Serbia is not 'taking care' for them any more...

Afrim, please read the attached link. http://www.kosovo.net/skenderbeyss.html

Albanians have historically done a lot worse to Serbs. So please stop your war atrocities postings, they are getting really old. It's a US/EU/UN/Albanian propoganda campaign that has lost most of ti's credibility. Read some news from around the world, and enlighten yourself.

Cheers.

KosovO will not be free until the people who pushed their way into our land have paid taxes, etc that are due Serbia. Where is your "greater albania" now? You commenters that are "pro-albania" are very shallow and are looking at the world through rose colored glasses. Those of you who commented "so what?" You'll see so what - wait & see how KosovO will remain an integral part of Serbia as it has been! CCCC

Thanks.

For all of you having any doubts that Kosovo is not going towards independence wake up and smell the roses!!! I would like to remind you that if kosovo was to remain a part of Serbia would not bye services of another country. So much for the statement of the above minister who probably would not be able to watch my chickens.
That is what Serbia shuold do: Elect capable people not this guy. I know there are so many smart people in Serbia, let them manage the country.
