Serbian and U.S. power prices equal

This stands in contrast to the statements made by the Serbian power corporation, EPS, which said Serbia’s kilowatt-hour price was at 4.5 eurocents, as well as that it would reach 5 cents with the announced hike in prices, energy expert , Dr. Zorana Z. Mihajlović-Milanović says.

The facts, however, speak for themselves, and show that the average price of electric power in the United Stated is at almost the same level as that in Serbia (5.1 $cents/kWh), as well as that the electricity bills there reach 80 dollars per month on average.

The price of electric power in Serbia was indeed depressed in the period up to 2000, leading to an increase in consumption of this type of energy, especially in industry, thus increasing the domestic companies’ inefficiency and lack of competitiveness.
