Bytyqi case: Police, prosecutor need to work hard
“I cannot speak in more detail as I would not like to jeopardize the investigation, but I sincerely hope that new evidence and serious work of the police and the prosecutor's office will lead to finding the perpetrators,” said Stefanovic. The brothers, Agron, Mehmet and Illy Bytyqi, who fought in the 1999 Kosovo conflict as members of the so-called Atlantic Brigade of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), were killed in July that year, and their bodies were found in a mass grave in Petrovo Selo near Kladovo in 2001.
A two-year investigation saw the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office collaborating on the case with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, since the Bytyqi brothers were U.S. citizens.
