EULEX chief: There is no "5,000 names list"

This is something for the prosecutor and the judge to deliberate and decide upon, and not for me, and usually there are several reasons for detention on remand for somebody, Borchardt said.

“It is not only the risk that people are going to flee, but it can also be the risk that people intimidate witnesses. A judge is going to balance all these arguments,” he observed.

The Serbian government gave EULEX assurances that the four persons, namely, Oliver Ivanović, Dragoljub Delibašić, Laza Lazić, and Žarko Veselinović, all currently imprisoned in Kosovo and Metohija, will be available to EULEX during court proceedings.

Borchardt said he has learned from some media that there are rumors of a list of 5,000 names of Serbs to be arrested.

“I can categorically state that such a 5,000 names list does not exist,” Borchardt said. There are, of course, investigations into cases, then there are Interpol warrants, indictments, but “there are no sealed indictments here in Kosovo,” he stressed.
