Prosecution indicts ex-JSO members

Serbian Organized Crime Prosecution has raised an indictment against eight ex-Special Operations Unit (JSO) members for organizing a mutiny in November 2001. Former ministers, who were in office at the time of the armed mutiny, testified in court about the work of a government commission that had been formed in order to reveal circumstances of the mutiny. Prosecution indicts ex-JSO members It is suspected that former JSO commanders Milorad Ulemek Legija and Zvezdan Jovanovic and Zemun gang leader Dusan Spasojevic organized the mutiny. It is believed that the mutiny served as a prelude to Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic’s assassination in March 2003, which Ulemek, Jovanovic and several other persons were convicted of. The JSO members refused to take orders and took to the streets fully armed in November 2001. The mutiny lasted a week and it ended after an agreement was reached with the Serbian government. Organized Crime Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljevic said earlier that the mutiny would be investigated as a part of the probe into the political background of Djindjic’s murder. B92

Prosecution indicts ex-JSO members

It is suspected that former JSO commanders Milorad Ulemek Legija and Zvezdan Jovanović and Zemun gang leader Dušan Spasojević organized the mutiny.

It is believed that the mutiny served as a prelude to Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić’s assassination in March 2003, which Ulemek, Jovanović and several other persons were convicted of.
