Businessman and Novi Pazar Football Club President Bojan Radovanovic was arrested on Tuesday, the Serbian police have confirmed for B92. According to unofficial information, Radovanovic was arrested on suspicion of taking loans by using false documents, i.e. he took out mortgage on buildings that he did not own as a guarantee for the loans. Superleague club president arrested Radovanovic, who recently replaced Labor and Social Policy Minister Rasim Ljajic as the Novi Pazar FC head, was a BASK FC president until recently. Radovanovic became the Novi Pazar FC president this summer after he and several BASK’s best players decided to transfer to Novi Pazar. Novi Pazar FC competes in Serbia’s top football competition, the Superleague. The Novi Pazar FC president has been linked to an affair with the Diplomatic Housing Enterprise DIPOS where he served as an assistant director five years ago. Police have for several months been investigating his connections with numerous companies that received money from DIPOS in a peculiar way and the way money was transferred to BASK FC accounts. Novi Pazar FC Spokesman Redzep Korac has stated that club officials are "surprised and stunned“ by Radovanovic’s arrest. “The news about President Radovanovic’s arrest has surprised and stunned everybody in the club and that’s the only thing I can say at this point,” he told Sto Plus Radio. Radovanović, who recently replaced Labor and Social Policy Minister Rasim Ljajić as the Novi Pazar FC head, was a BASK FC president until recently.
