A hooligan found guilty of attempting to murder a police officer at a stadium in Belgrade and sent to jail for ten years could be free as soon as this summer. According to reports that are yet to be officially confirmed, the Court of Appeals in April decided to halve the sentence handed down to Uros Misic, after opening "its own procedure and presenting some evidence on its own". Hooligan in attempted policeman murder case to be freed According to media reports, this court qualified the incident as attack against official persons, dropping the previous charge of attempted murder, and decided that Misic should spend five years in prison. Considering that he has already been detained for the past three years and five months, this means that he could be granted parole in three month's time. Misic's lawyer Borivoje Borovic told Tanjug that his clinet would file for early release as soon as he was eligible. Misic, a Red Star FC supporter, attacked police officer Nebojsa Trajkovic during a football match in Belgrade in December 2007, beating him with a lit flare and at one point attempting to force it in his victim's mouth, causing serious injuries.
