A Serbian police (MUP) officer has shot and killed a man in self-defense while responding to a domestic violence call in a Belgrade suburb. According to reports, neighbors reported that a 26-year-old man was armed with an ax, threatening to kill his mother. Policeman shoots assailant dead The man was locked inside the Mirijevo neighborhood apartment with his mother. When he saw police at the scene, he jumped through a window attacking one officer and hitting him several times with the ax. The officer then fired from his pistol in self-defense and killed his assailant, said reports. The policeman is currently receiving medical treatment for his wounds. B92 has unofficially learned that the victim was mentally ill was previously charged for "less serious" criminal acts.
