Serbian police (MUP) have announced that they have Sasa Mega, 30, a suspect in a series of rapes in Belgrade, in their custody. Police Director Milorad Veljovic told B92 that Mega was arrested in a train on the Belgrade-Pancevo line at 18:00 CET this evening. Officers who made the arrest found a knife on the suspect, believed to have been used to threaten the victims.

Veljović also revealed that the suspect is a repeat offender, who was imprisoned for rape and only released in September.

Three cases of rape have been reported to MUP in Belgrade this week.
