Police arrest 17 after rioting

Serbian police (MUP) has announced that its officers have arrested 17 persons after last night's violent protest in Belgrade. Ten of those detained are minors, the statement said. Police arrest 17 after rioting They gathered in downtown Belgrade Saturday night to protest an incident which took place earlier this week, when a man was shot and killed by police under as yet unclear circumstances. The protest was not previously announced to the police. The demonstrators damaged a police booth in front of the government headquarters. They also broke several windows on a private apartment and those at a McDonald's restaurant. Five rioters – three adults and two minors – are facing criminal charges, the police said.
