Vucic added the offer was "better than the one made in 2011, but still not what the government had expected."

"The decision will be made in the best interest of citizens. Someone has to make a decision, and whatever we do about it, someone will be there to blame us for that," said Vucic, according to Tanjug.

Vucic added that the offer was on the verge of being "accepted or rejected."

Six offers have been submitted to acquire 58 percent of the Serbian state-controlled telecommunications company.

The state currently owns 58.11 percent of Telekom, while the company owns 20 percent. Private citizens and current and former employees control stakes of 14.95 and 6.94 percent, respectively.

Four years ago Telekom's value was put at EUR 2.2 billion, with the government asking for a minimum of 1.4 billion for 51 percent of shares. The sole bidder at the time, Telekom Austria, offered EUR 1.1 billion.
