BELGRADE The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) will certainly maintain the inflation at a planned level of 5.5 percent, says NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic. She noted that the NBS guaranteed that the foreign exchange rate would remain stable and within “bearable” limits. Inflation won’t exceed 5.5 pct, NBS governor says Tabakovic reiterated that the inflation was 12.2 percent in 2012 and that it grew by 9.5 percent in just seven months. According to her, 6.6 percent of the inflation was a result of increase in food prices so the central bank could not influence this part of the inflation. When asked if the NBS would help citizens who had trouble making regular payments for loans in euros and Swiss franks, she said that the central bank was already working on it and preparing a draft aimed at solving the issue.
