Serb Progressive Party (SNS) official Zorana Mihajlovic says talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be unavoidable. This international financial institution is "important for coping with the crisis in Serbia", she noted. Progressives: No avoiding talks with IMF A future government cannot escape a budget review, which is necessary, and faces serious challenges because of the country's poor economic situation, Mihajlovic told a news conference. She criticized the state-run power company EPS and its announcement of higher prices of electricity starting October 1, adding that it actually meant the people were paying for poor management of the company. The EPS took out a loan of EUR 80 million to buy electricity meters and then when it failed to sign a deal with certain companies to finish the job, it loaned another EUR 60 million for the same thing. "And the people are now supposed to pay for this inefficiency beginning with October 1," she noted, adding that there had been power cuts in the past days in areas where the Democratic Party (DS)had lost the elections.
