Serbia consumes record amount of electric energy

On Wednesday the power consumption in Serbia exceeded 157 million kWh, which is an absolute record so far, the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) said.

On Wednesday the power consumption in Serbia exceeded 157 million kWh, which is an absolute record so far, the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) said. The consumption of 157.3mn kWh per day surpassed the 156.6mn kWh measured on December 31, 2010. Serbia consumes record amount of electric energy The EPS statement added that this is the second time since the start of the winter season that the record consumption has been measured, "which could have been expected considering the very low temperature in the last 20 days when the consumption was around 155mn kWh". Temperatures below zero degrees centigrade during daytime are expected to continue today, but considerably warmer weather has been forecast for the weekend and beyond.
