The Serbian government has extended the deadline for interested parties to buy the tender documents for the purchase of a 51 percent stake in Telekom Srbija. The deadline is now December 10, it was announced in Belgrade on Thursday. According to the announcement, it is in the government's interest to have more competitors involved in the market race for Telekom Srbija, so as to achieve the best price for the company in a transparent manner and on the most favorable terms. The initial tender documentation purchase deadline was November 26. The tender documents, according to Telecommunications Minister Jasna Matic, had by November 17 been purchased by Telekom Austria, Deutsche Telekom and France Telecom. The Finance Ministry called the tender sale of the majority stake in Telekom Srbija, whose entire value is estimated at EUR2.43 billion, on Oct. 20. The government owns 80 percent of Telekom shares, whereas the remaining 20 percent are controlled by Greek OTE, in which Deutsche Telekom holds a 30 percent stake.
