The Foreign Investors Council (FIC) announced on Friday that Serbia has improved its business environment, but that a lot more is needed to be done. Serbia needs to continue its reforms and improve the legal framework in order to improve the business environment, according to participators at the FIC conference on Friday. The areas that require particular attention are the enforcement of court decisions and protection of competition, trade, securities, and partnerships. Investors demand competition protection The FIC statement notes that the introduction of fiscal responsibility and a consistent taxation policy are extremely significant steps in creating a more efficient business environment. Chairman of the FIC Board of Directors Kjell-Morten Johnsen said that the key to getting new investments and expanding existing ones is a consistent treatment of investors and a steady government policy. The FIC, an organization bringing together more than 120 foreign companies in Serbia, states that it has always strived to build a partnership relation with the Serbian government and to provide support during the transition period with the vast experience of its members.
