Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic stated that the biggest problem in Serbia is the low buying power of the citizens. He added that he will insist on the unfreezing of salaries by September this year at the latest. Dinkic to insist on unfreezing of salaries "I will insist that salaries should be increased, because product demand cannot be restored without it, regardless of what the experts and analysts might say," Dinkic told journalists. He pointed out that a program is being prepared, in cooperation with the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), to increase the buying power of the people, but he did not want to go into details, saying that he will talk about the program once it has been prepared and adopted. Commenting on the decline of the dinar against the euro, Dinkic said that he is concerned about the issue, adding that low demand is one of the main reasons for it. In order to substantiate his claims, Dinkic said that on the one hand, there has been an eight percent drop in trade turnover, a 12 percent decrease in the construction sector in January, and on the other hand, industrial production has seen a growth of 3.7 percent.
