Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said in New York that developed countries should participate more in the building of a new world economic order. Cvetkovic, who is participating in a United Nations conference on the world financial and economic crisis, said that the potential duration of the global recession was also discussed at the conference. "Serbia’s contribution during crisis" He said that Serbia’s contributions as a country in development was also discussed at the conference, looking at Serbia as a country that is capable of contributing in a situation when the most developed countries are leading the initiative. Cvetkovic said that it is “good” that his statement in New York that the margins of domestic banks are greater than in some other countries was heard in Serbia. “Although this is not characteristically a trait of Serbia, my services have identified this as the most drastic case, with a difference that is seven-fold,” the prime minister said. The point is that the height of the margin is not in accordance with the risk for investing and that in this way, the undeveloped countries are burdened to endure financial losses which result from other jobs, Cvetkovic said. He said in his speech at the conference yesterday, that one of the topics that should be discussed at the UN conference is the fact that the banking sector is halting economic growth in countries that should be the generators of global economic growth.
