Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic agreed in Brussels on Friday terms for EU's assistance to the Serbian budget worth EUR 100mn. "We agreed with Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn about the conditions for obtaining budget assistance worth EUR 100mn for our country. We will be able to present that budget assistance on July 3 at the session of the committee of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA)," Djelic said. "EU to provide budget assistance" Djelic said he expects Rehn will visit Serbia in the weeks following July 3 for the purpose of the signing of that financial arrangement. This demonstrates that the European solidarity with Serbia is concrete, he said. "It was agreed that this assistance will have conditions which are, on the one side, tied to the implementation of our agreement with the IMF, i.e. the macroeconomic sustainability of the country, and, on the other side, with the implementation of the European laws, as well as the implementation of our European agenda," the Serbian deputy premier said. Under the reached agreement, Djelic announced, the assistance would arrive in two installments of EUR 50mn each. The first installment should be deposited already in the third quarter of this year, and the second in the first, or at the latest in the second quarter of the next year, Djelic concluded.
