IKEA partners with domestic manufacturer?

Simpo's strategic privatization partner will be Swedish IKEA, the Vranje-based furniture manufacturer's Director Dragomir Tomic says. Tomic went on to explain in an interview with Vecernje Novosti that the deal "could be closed as early as mid-next year, if all elements fall into place". IKEA partners with domestic manufacturer? A delegation from IKEA recently visited Vranje, he explained, and Simpo is now planning to jointly build a large plant, that would produce furniture for the markets abroad, and modernize existing capacities. Tomic also emphasized that his company is seeking only the strategic partners "from the same sector". Simpo, a company that achieved its heyday before the 1990s wars, "in the past eight years once again became the undisputed leader in modern furniture production in southeastern Europe, and today employs some 5,000 workers", its director revealed.
