At a second meeting of the tender commission for the sale of RTB Bor, Austrian A-Tec was named the top bidder. The bids were ranked at the tender commission meeting for the sale of the company’s property and mining rights. Austrian company favorite in RTB Bor tender A-Tec’s offer of USD 466mn was ranked highest, followed by Strikeforce Mining and Resources’ bid of USD 370mn. The sole criteria for ranking the bids was the proposed sale price. Following the announcement of the tender rankings, the Privatization Agency will, in the next five days, summon the leading bidder for negotiations. The negotiation deadline expires in 30 days, with a possible extension of a further 30 days. “Until then, negotiations with the first-ranked bidder for the next two months will focus on investment and an additional pension plan, ecology and the contract provisions for transferring mining rights, that can be discussed, according to the regulations for bidders,” RTB Bor representative Gorica Toncev Vasilic told Beta. The Privatization Agency sent an official request to the Austrian embassy last week for information on whether A-Tec owner Mirko Kovac was the subject of any criminal charges currently and whether the Austrian courts were conducting any ongoing investigations into his dealings. Kovac said that the investigations against him would not affect the status of his company’s bid for RTB Bor because it was a private matter and had nothing to do with A-Tec.
