The Media Office of the Gaza Government has released a new report marking two years since what it calls the “ongoing Israeli genocidal campaign,” citing catastrophic levels of destruction, mass displacement, and tens of thousands of civilian deaths.

According to a statement released on Sunday, more than 76,600 Palestinians have been killed or gone missing since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, when Israel launched a major offensive on Gaza. Of those, 67,139 deaths have been confirmed in hospitals, while nearly 9,500 people remain missing—many believed to be buried under the rubble.

Gaza authorities say that children, women, and the elderly account for more than half of the victims, including over 20,000 children and 12,500 women. The report states that entire families have been erased from civil records, with 2,700 families completely wiped out, while more than 6,000 others have only one surviving member.

The Government Media Office in Gaza stated that Israeli bombings and ground offensives have destroyed nearly 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure, leaving the territory in a state of “total humanitarian collapse.” It is estimated that more than 80% of the Gaza Strip is now under Israeli occupation, while over two million civilians have been forcibly displaced — many of them multiple times.

The statement accuses Israel of a “campaign of starvation and ethnic cleansing,” noting that more than 200,000 tons of explosives have been dropped on Gaza over the past two years. It also reports that the so-called “safe humanitarian zone” in Al-Mawasi has been bombed more than 130 times.

According to the Media Office data, Gaza’s humanitarian system has completely collapsed: 38 hospitals and 96 clinics have been destroyed or rendered inoperable, and 197 ambulances have been hit in Israeli strikes. More than 1,600 healthcare workers, 254 journalists, 140 civil defense personnel, and 540 humanitarian workers have been killed, the report says.

With over 169,000 wounded, authorities state that hospitals in Gaza are critically understaffed. The report also notes that 22,000 patients who were approved for treatment abroad remain trapped in Gaza, while 650,000 children face life-threatening hunger due to severe shortages of food, medicine, and infant formula.

International agencies have repeatedly warned of famine affecting parts of Gaza. The United Nations has reported that 2.4 million people in the enclave are living under “unprecedented levels of poverty,” almost entirely dependent on humanitarian aid.

The report adds that 95% of Gaza’s schools have been damaged and 165 educational institutions completely destroyed. The attacks have killed 13,500 students, 830 teachers, and nearly 200 university professors and researchers.

Religious sites have also been targeted: 835 mosques have been completely destroyed, and several churches severely damaged. The report also notes that dozens of cemeteries have been leveled to the ground.

Gaza authorities estimate direct losses across 15 sectors at $70 billion, including $28 billion in housing, $5 billion in healthcare, and $4 billion in education. Nearly all agricultural land and fisheries have been destroyed, threatening the territory’s long-term food security.

The report concludes with an appeal to the international community to act “before Gaza completely disappears,” urging world governments to pressure Israel to lift the blockade and allow unhindered humanitarian access.

UN officials and human rights groups have reiterated calls for independent investigations into alleged war crimes, but political divisions within the UN Security Council have repeatedly blocked resolutions calling for an end to what many describe as genocide.

As the war enters its third year, Gaza remains almost entirely destroyed — its people forcibly displaced, starving, and enduring what local authorities describe as “730 days of killing and ethnic cleansing.”
