Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli military (IDF) carried out an airstrike on Gaza, and according to claims by Israel’s state leadership, the target was Hamas military leader in the Gaza Strip, Izz al-Din Haddad.

The strike hit a residential building in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza, Palestinian media reported.

It is still unknown whether Haddad was killed in the attack, which comes at a time when a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is in effect.

Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that they had ordered the elimination of Haddad, whom they described as one of the key figures of Hamas’s military wing and “one of the architects of the October 7 massacre.”

In a joint statement, they said that Haddad was responsible for “killings, kidnappings, and causing harm to thousands of Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers.”

“This is a clear message to all murderers seeking our lives: sooner or later, Israel will reach you,” Netanyahu and Katz said.

Doctors in Gaza said that at least seven Palestinians, including a child, were killed in the airstrikes on Friday, while dozens were wounded. The strikes hit an apartment and a nearby vehicle.
