According to the Republic Hydro-Meteorological Service of Serbia (RHMZ), snow is expected in Vojvodina’s Banat and eastern Serbia on Wednesday.
The highest temperature in Belgrade should be around minus three degrees centigrade.
The situation is still very difficult in Vojvodina due to heavy snowfall. Two buses and several cars are snowbound on a road near the town of Kanjiža.
Serbian police (MUP) Emergency Situations Sector Chief Predrag Marić told Tanjug that there was a traffic jam on the road but that the traffic would start functioning normally soon.
He added that there are snow drifts up to one meter around the town of Vršac due to strong wind.
According to him, freight vehicles are not allowed on the Ibar Highway and all regional roads are clear, while local roads will be cleared during the day.
Marić said that five victims of the cold snap had so far been confirmed and that there had been no new evacuations during the night.
Main streets in Belgrade have been cleared but there are still traffic jams and problems in public transportation. Belgrade Mayor Dragan Đilas apologized to citizens for traffic problems in the capital on Tuesday.
