Two pedestrians die in accident in Belgrade

Two pedestrians hit by an SUV late on Monday in Belgrade's Užička Street died of their injuries soon after, the city's medical emergency service has announced.

According to spokeswoman Aleksandra Berić, the victims - a 30-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man - were brought to the Emergency Center "with no signs of life."

A man, identified as Milorad M. (60), has been placed under arrest on suspicion that drove the SUV that hit the pedestrians.

According to Berić, the driver was "injured only lightly" in the accident. Other details remain unknown at this time.
