Serbia has been experiencing a cold wave for the past week, accompanied with heavy snowfall, and very low temperatures. The skies are clear this Monday, but the temperatures remain below zero across the country. Serbia gripped by freezing cold weather The town of Sjenica, sitting on a mountainous area in southwestern Serbia, was the coldest this morning at 10:00 CET, with temperature dropping to minus 18 degrees. Valjevo, in the west of the country, was only one degree warmer. The snow that was falling for several days formed a cover of 20 to 40 cm across the country. After a dramatic weekend, when strong southeastern winds created snow drifts several meters high that left cars stranded for hours in some areas, today all major roads in Serbia are clear and for the most part dry. There were no major difficulties reported with air traffic in and out of Belgrade Nikola Tesla International airport. (Beta)
