Dejan Bodiroga says that "most Italians do not understand their government's decision to recognize Kosovo". One of Serbia's best basketball players in the past couple of decades, currently Virtus Roma general manager, told daily Politika that "most of the Italian people are siding with Serbia when it comes to Kosovo". Basketball ace: Italians are on our side Bodiroga, who has won three Olympic, two World and five European championships with the national squad, said that he also received positive reactions in that country after he took part in the massive rally in Belgrade on Feb. 21. He said the club's owner was supportive of his decision to show up at the rally, and added the majority of people in Italy are still not well-versed into the events about Kosovo. Bodiroga describes the ethnic Albanians' unilateral declaration of independence as a "shameless violation of international law". He called on the Serb people to build a unified stand on the Kosovo question, and to maintain their dignity and "never forget three months of bombing, depleted uranium and all other troubles". "My political option is Serbia. Unity above all. This is not a partisan issue, this is a national issue. Our Orthodox faith ought to be the foundation of everything, to bring us together, so that we know who and what we are, always respecting all others," Bodiroga told the newspaper.
