Macedonian police arrested one person suspected of involvement in yesterday’s shooting incident in western Macedonia. A convoy of vehicles belonging the ethnic Albanian Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), en route to a campaign rally, came under attack near the village of Rahovec. According to Macedonian police spokesman Ivo Kotevski Faruk Iljazi from the village of Golema Recica near Tetovo was arrested in connection. Police will look to confirm the details of the incident, the motive and possinble participation of other persons. Police also said they will interview DUI leader Ali Ahmeti and members of that party to ascertain where the incident took place. Yesterday at a press conference Ahmeti said that he survived an assassination attempt. Ahmeti demanded that police discover who stood behind the attack. But Menduh Thaci, leader of a rival ethinic Albanian party, the Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA), said that DUI "staged the incident".
