Vucic then noted that "hundreds of times less damage has been done this time."

He added that the reason was "the lesser force of the natural disaster" and also the repaired embankments in Obrenovac, Krupanj, "to some degree in Bajina Basta and Cacak - but you saw that in Novi Pazar fridges and cookers destroyed bridges."

"Once this is all over canals will be full again, we have not ensured property, if we launched obligatory insurance people would say that's an additional expense. Still, good news is that everyone will be compensated for the damage," Vucic said.

The prime minister, who was today on Mt. Kopaonik for the Business Forum, said earlier that his government will on Tuesday pass several decrees and by-laws regulating assistance and support for citizens of the flood-hit municipalities.

"The state will settle everything, although it is not its fault, nor obligation... It's not a problem for me to go to everyone and withstand people's rage... much more money is needed to fortify embankments, that there is no building in places where there should not be any building... we can change ourselves, we'll never defeat nature," he said.
